The Alliance for Aging Research strongly supports President Donald Trump’s pick for Food and Drug Administration commissioner.
Alliance President and CEO Susan Peschin said nominee Dr. Scott Gottlieb is a strong, qualified candidate.
“The FDA requires a strong leader who has deep knowledge of the regulatory process and understands how it affects patient access to new medical products,” Peschin said in a statement sent to Life Matters Media.
“We believe that Dr. Gottlieb’s expertise as a former regulator and physician will serve the FDA well and benefit the health of the American public.”
Peschin said she believes Gottlieb deserves a “swift” confirmation. A Senate vote is required before Gottlieb can take over as head of the agency.
If confirmed, Gottlieb would be tasked with Trump’s streamlining the FDA. Gottlieb, 44, served as a deputy commissioner under President George W. Bush.
The Alliance for Aging research is a Washington-D.C.-based nonprofit aiming to help establish “healthy aging research” as a priority for the nation.
