Terminally Ill Teen Wants Thousands Of Birthday Cards

LIFE MATTERS MEDIA STAFF

JAKEfbAll a terminally ill Mesa, Ariz., teen wants for his birthday is cards – lots of them.

The family of Jacob Priestley has made a public plea for people across the world to send him as many cards as possible. Their goal: 10,000 by his late-August birthday. A Facebook page associated with the family reports they have already received more than 3,000.

Priestley, 13, was diagnosed with autism and attention-deficit-hyperactivity-disorder when he was 4. He was later diagnosed with mitochondrial disease, a rare, life-threatening illness that has weakened his body.

“Since his disease is terminal, we don’t know how many more birthdays he’s going to have with us,” Jacob’s mother, Britney Priestley, told a local news station. “We vowed that we would make every birthday bigger and better than last year.”

Birthday cards may be sent to the P.O. Box below:

  1. Happy anniversary of your arrival in this physical world on your ways to the worlds beyond. During your stay here, your whole purpose is to gather your spiritual qualities together for use in the next, in much the same way as you prepared your limbs for use in this world. Take every opportunity you get for obtaining and putting into practice these qualities so that you will be prepared for the next stage of your journey towards God. In this physical world we get many opportunities to put these invisible and spiritual qualities into action. My guess is, if we don’t get to practice them in our lifetime, we won’t have them in the next world. An example: Compassion is a quality. You only get that quality when seeing the suffering of others. Once obtained it’s yours. Grab a few more while you are here. They are not heavy. Hehe. The best birthday present you could ever get. Now where was I? Oh that’s right… Happy anniversary of your birth into this physical world. This is where your real work begins. If you are lucky enough to have your dear mother with you, she is commemorating her birthing day today, and this is your arrival day after all. A good way to remember the delivery day right?
