Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue dances with death on her new hit single.

“Dancing,” the lead single off Minogue’s hotly anticipated 14th album “Golden,” is a sexy fusion of electro-pop and Tennessee twang. But it’s the lyrics and music video that make it a truly unusual – and inspiring- song.

Between synth beats, the 49-year-old Grammy-winner croons: “Everybody’s got a story, Let it be a blaze of glory, Burning bright never fade away, When the final curtain falls.

“We can say we did it all, The never ending of a perfect day, Can’t stand still (Can’t stand still), Won’t slow down (Won’t slow down), When I go out I wanna go out dancing now (ah ah ah ah).”

Minogue, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, spoke about learning to dance with death – in heels.

The video, which has already been viewed nearly 1 million times on YouTube since its Feb. 1 release, stars a dance troupe of Grim Reapers who seem intoxicated by Minogue’s bubbly presence. It’s also the first time Minogue line danced.

“I always thought I could learn routines quickly, but this was different,” Minogue told Official Charts Company. “However, by the time I had to dance with the Grim Reaper at the end I had mastered it. And if that’s not a funny allegory for life I don’t know what is!”

Much of “Golden” was recorded last year in Nashville, a process she likened to therapy.

“I was a little bit fragile when I started working on this album,” Minogue recently told BBC Radio 2’s Chris Evans. “It was a really good time to be honest and work through everything, and give a snapshot of where I am in my life.”
