Troubling hidden camera footage from an elderly man’s nursing home room led to two health aides being arrested on elder abuse charges.

The family of William John Parks, 89, who resided at Lynn Haven Health & Rehabilitation nursing home in Gray, Ga., became concerned about his safety and installed a “nanny cam” in his room, The Telegraph reports.

Footage recorded Jan. 31 showed both physical and mental abuse of Parks, who was recovering from pneumonia and required additional support, according to Jones County Sheriff’s Maj. Earl Humphries.

Humphries said the pair punched the man, hit him in the head and threatened him.

In another instance, The Telegraph reports, Parks was having difficulty keeping his dentures in while eating, and one of the women “hit him to poke the dentures back in,” Humphries said.

Vonshell Napier, 37, of Milledgeville, was arrested on four counts of abusing a person 65 or older, and Beverly Jackson, 45, of Gordon, was charged with one count this month.

Both women were fired from the facility. Parks, who served in the United States Navy in World War II, died Feb. 16 from natural causes.
