Join us at the next Chicagoland ASA Roundtable on April 13, when journalist and author Mark Miller will join us to discuss his new book, Jolt: Stories of Trauma and Transformation.
Trauma can destroy lives, yet some people not only survive trauma, they bounce back to thrive and grow. Jolt tells the stories of people transformed by growth following trauma, and the new paths that they pursue. Some are on missions to help others or to make things right in the world, while others embark on new careers. Some people simply find that their relationships grow deeper, or seek a stronger spiritual dimension in their lives.
For more than a decade, Mark has researched and written about what motivates people to reinvent their lives. He is a nationally recognized expert on retirement and aging. He is a columnist for Reuters and other news outlets, and has contributed to The New York Times. Mark will be joined by two respondents who will share their professional and personal experiences with trauma.
Following Mark’s presentation we will have a panel discussion and audience contributions and discussion. Randi Belisomo is a reporter for WGN-TV, and the founder of Life Matters Media, an organization that aims to help people make the terrifying concept of death a part of normal, everyday discussion. Audrey Cantor, LCSW will share her professional perspectives from a career working with older adults and Holocaust survivors.
Copies of Jolt will be available for purchase after the roundtable, and Mark will be signing his book.
